Your dog’s first day.
Every dog starts with a first visit. Here’s what happens, what to bring and what comes next.
From hello to their first full day.
The first visit is relaxed and unhurried. It’s as much for you as it is for your dog.
Get in touch
Send a sample request or call us during opening hours. Tell us about your dog, how they enjoy company and the days you have in mind.
Arrive at Birch Walk
Bring your dog on their lead after a short walk. We’ll meet you at the door and take things at your dog’s pace.
Explore and talk
Your dog explores the room while we talk through their notes: company, play, rest, food and handling.
A little time with us
Your dog spends some time with the team and, if they’re ready, a friendly dog or two.
Plan what’s next
We tell you how it went and talk about the days that might suit them, from the odd day to a regular routine.
What to bring.
Lead and harness
The ones they’re used to, so the hello at the door feels familiar.
Food for the day
If they eat during the day, pack it in a labeled bag with timings.
Their notes
How they play, when they need a break and anything we should know.
A familiar toy
For shy dogs, something from home can help them settle.

After the first visit.

The first few weeks.
Most dogs take a little while to learn the routine: the hello at the door, the room, the people and the dogs they share their days with. We keep an eye on how they’re settling and tell you at every pickup.
If something isn’t quite right, like too much company or not enough rest, we’ll adjust their days and talk it through with you. Their notes grow as we get to know them.
Tell us about their week.
Share your dog’s routine and the days you have in mind. We’ll start with a first visit and plan the rest together.
